What You Need to Know

Hello Swaggernauts!
This "What you Need to Know" page covers all the important Swag Bucks topics.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Searching
  • First, and most important, search "naturally". This means search not only for things you actually need to search for, but also when you need to search for them. The more "natural" your searches are, the better your chances of winning will be. You do NOT win on every search. Every search is a chance to win.
  • Do NOT search too much, too fast. More searches does not mean more swag bucks. In fact, if you search too much/too fast, it will lessen your chances of winning. Also, searching too much/too fast can lead to deactivation and multiple offenses can get your account banned. If you know ahead of time that you need to do a lot of searching (for work, a project, or whatever) it is best that you search a few on SwagBucks, then take a break and search on another search engine (like Google, Yahoo, etc.).
  • Search for actual things. Don't search for "kjdsgkgha" because this will be seen as unnatural searching and it can lead to deactivation.
  • It does NOT matter WHAT you search for. The only thing that matters is WHEN you search. For example, if someone searched for "Bananas" and won 20 swag bucks, that does not mean if you searched for "Bananas" that you would win too. It is possible to win searching the same thing as someone else, but it is not a guarantee.
  • When you search, it is possible to win by clicking the "Next" button on the search page, or even by clicking the page numbers (2, 3, 4...) at the bottom of the search results. Be aware that every time you click "Next", "Back", or any of the page numbers, it counts as a separate search. So, if you search for "Food" and don't win, then you click "page 2", then click "page 3", then click "page 4", then click back to "page 3", you've just done 5 searches in a very short amount of time. This could be seen as over searching and can get you deactivated.
  • There is no set number of searches that you get per day. You can win on your 1st search, you can win on your 25th search, or any of the other ones, but you are not limited to the number of searches you can do in a day. Again, be careful because more searches does not mean more swag bucks, and over searching can get you deactivated.
  • If you search and see the "rules page" instead of your search results, that means you have been over searching and need to take a break. Try to come back in 1hr and try again. If the rules page is still there, you may have to wait until the next day to search again. There is no set number of searches that you can do before you see the rules page, so just use your best judgement.
2. Swag Codes
  • wag Codes are little bonuses that TSG (The Swag Guy) gives out to reward the members of SwagBucks. Swag Codes are worth extra swag bucks, so they are very helpful to find and redeem. There are not codes out 24/7.
  • All codes expire in 1 of 2 ways. First, a code can expire by time. For example, when you find a code, it might say something like this "Enter this code before 7pm PDT". That would tell you that this code would expire at 7pm PDT. Second, a code can expire by # of people. For example, it could say "This code is good for the first 500 people". This means that only the first 500 people to find and enter the code will get it. Codes expire either one way or the other, not both.
  • VERY IMPORTANT - Swag Codes can only be posted by 1 person...The Swag Guy. You should never, ever, ever post an active code anywhere. Posting an active code will get you deactivated. Even if TSG posts the code directly on the blog, Facebook page, or Twitter, you do NOT post the code yourself.
  • We never know when a code will come out and we are never guaranteed a code. On average, there is 1 code a day. However, some days there may be more and some days there will be none. Remember, codes are GIFTS and we should be thankful that we are even given them. TSG doesn't have to give us codes...ever. So do not beg, whine, or plead for codes.
  • I will say this again...NEVER POST AN ACTIVE CODE! You will be deactivated for it.
  • Sometimes, rather than posting the code itself, TSG will post clues to help us find the location of a code. These are called Code Hunts. You must follow the clues TSG gives you to find the code. The code for a Code Hunt can be posted just about anywhere, on any SwagBucks media page, or anywhere in the Swag Store. Code Hunts could even give us a question, and the answer would be the code.
3. Referrals
Referrals are those people who join SwagBucks using your referral link. Referrals are good because for every swag buck they earn from searching (and ONLY searching), you get a matching amount up to the first 1000 swag bucks. You do NOT get matching swag bucks just for signing someone up. They actually have to search and win before you get anything. You also don't get the 30 swag bucks they get when they join, you don't get any when your referrals get codes, or anything else. ONLY SEARCHING.
